About Mount Washington
Mount Washington is a unique town within the City of Pittsburgh. It boasts one of the most dramatic urban views of a downtown skyline within the United States. But there is more to this town than its grand view.
"The Mount" as we locals call it, is a place ripe with potential for growth, development and change. Mt. Washington's people are a mix of young professionals, college renters, lifelong residents and urban families.
There are seven universities and colleges within a five-mile radius of Mount Washington. Students take advantage of the low cost of housing here, making this part of Pittsburgh full of creative and intelligent young people who are searching for meaning and purpose in life.
There are many children and youth who fill the streets and parks, looking for a place to belong. There are adults and senior citizens who have lived here their entire lives and watched the sense of community diminish.
Over 16,000 people live in Mount Washington. Only 6,000 of them go to a church, here or elsewhere. Some people ask us, why does Mount Washington need ANOTHER church? I can think of 10,000 reasons why.
About the Ielase's
Alex and Jennifer were married in October of 2005 and have a beautiful baby girl named Scarlet. Alex grew up in Mount Washington and has lived in the Pittsburgh area his entire life. Jennifer moved to Pittsburgh in 2003 to complete her Bachelor's degree and after meeting Alex, made Pittsburgh her home.
Alex and Jennifer graduated from seminary in May of 2007, bought their house in Mt. Washington in June and had Scarlet in July. They are now in the process of forming a core group of people who will begin serving the community.

Coffee Night at Cafe Cravings
Once again, people from the Mt Washington community braved the winter cold and joined us at Cafe Cravings for a night of delicious coffee, desserts and great jazz music! Music was provided by local musicians, Kathryn Meyer and Amanda Ludwig. Cafe Cravings provided the perfect environment to warm up and get to know our neighbors!

The Fall Festival was a great day. The weather was perfect, the food was good, the games were fun and nearly everyone won some kind of prize. Most of all, the love of Christ was demonstrated in a tangible way. Redeemer on the Mount Church looks forward to many future community events.
This is Mount Washington! Most people come here to see the view, to ride the incline or to dine on Grandview Avenue. Celebrities, presidents and dignitaries regularly grace our town within this great city of Pittsburgh. Couples are married on the overlooks and high school students ride in stretch limousines before prom night on Grandview. However, many never realize that Mount Washington is more than a nice view! We hope to see Mt. Washington become famous for more than just its sights.
Redeemer on the Mount Church hopes to make an eternal impact on people's lives. How? By serving in any way we can, by meeting the needs of people and by proclaiming that Jesus Christ is both Lord and Savior. We envision Redeemer on the Mount becoming an irreplaceable part of the c ommunity.
Whether it is through neighborhood gatherings, helping those in need, community sports outreach or home repair for those who can't afford it, we want to meet the needs of Mount Washington's residents. In the midst of helping our neighbors and our community, we feel compelled to share also the truth about Jesus Christ. Our sin separates us from God. Jesus came and died on the cross, then rose again from the dead. Because of Him, we can now be forgiven and at peace with God. This is the Good News. Do you need forgiveness? Do you need peace? Our Vision:
We envision God touching Mt. Washington through Redeemer on the Mount. We see our church becoming an integral part of the Mount Washington community. It will be known not for its beautiful buildings and perfect people, but for its authentic, loving atmosphere and folks who go to great lengths to serve. We see Redeemer on the Mount growing and multiplying to a point at which other local churches can be planted to impact the city of Pittsburgh. We see lives being changed and the face of the Mount Washington community revitalized.

Prayer Needs:
- For God to prepare the way in Mt. Washington.
- For relationships to be formed as Alex coaches Little League baseball in the spring and summer of 2009.
- For the finances necessary to do ministry.
- For effectiveness in our ministry efforts, that people would come into a relationship with Jesus.
